Follow The Yellow Brick Road…

To the Oz Museum!!!  Oh my goodness!  This was AWESOME!  Since we were going through Kansas on our trip Vence did some research and found this treasure in Wamego, KS.  What a quaint little town!  And, many businesses have taken hold of the theme “The Wizard of Oz.”

The museum holds the largest collection of Wizard of Oz memorabilia anywhere.  It is an amazing collection.  They play the movie continuously in a little theatre, and we could hear the music from the movie playing throughout the museum.  The museum ends with the “Wicked” era, so as we walked out Elphaba (Idina Menzel) was singing overhead. We crossed the street and found the Yellow Brick Road! I wanted to to skip and sing down it, but Minnie Mouse wouldn’t cooperate with me. P1060741

We ate lunch at Toto’s Tacoz because, well, why not?  We were in the Land of Oz after all.  This was a fun place!  Who knew tacos and Toto go so well together?  The food was AMAZING!  And, it was served by this fun fella:

And, of course, we couldn’t pass up a photo op with the Three Amigos!

From here, we walked down the street to the Oz Winery.  All of their wines have names associated with The Wizard of Oz.  We came away with this one:

We took a peak in a cute little store called Toto’s Treasures.  Then, headed back to the motorhome (I think her name is going to be Hurricane Harriet, but it is still up in the air), and started down the road to our next destination.  I was still “Somewhere Over the Rainbow” though! See you at the next stop!

  1. What a fun place!! I’m sure Minnie Mouse is having a blast!

There’s a park in Wichita that has a WOZ them, complete with a yellow brick road that we went to over 20 years ago. It was in a bit of disrepair then, so I can only imagine what it must look like now. 🙂
